I know what you’re thinking. How are carnivore scrambled eggs any different from “regular” scrambled eggs? Well, they really aren’t. But, you can make them richer in flavor and higher in fat to better suit the carnivore diet.
Eggs are a staple food for me on carnivore. They’re nutrient-dense, easy to cook, versatile, and (if you prepare them properly) super delicious! My favorite way to make them is by scrambling in bacon fat and butter.
One of my YouTube viewers requested a video on how I make my scrambled eggs, so I thought I’d share my method here. If you’re looking for a way to amp up your own egg dishes, this one’s for you!
Eggs are Perfect for the Carnivore Diet
I typically eat twice a day – once around noon and again at around 6:00 PM. On days when I don’t have leftover meat from the night before, my go-to first meal is eggs with bacon. Eggs are perfect for the carnivore diet, and here’s why:
- Eggs are an excellent source of protein. High-quality protein is essential for muscle maintenance, repair, and overall health. The protein in eggs contains all nine essential amino acids (making it a complete protein source), which is vital when following a strict carnivore diet.
- Eggs are rich in healthy fats. They contain omega-3s and saturated fats, which help support brain function, hormone production, and overall cell health. Plus, these fats keep your energy levels stable throughout the day. If you start morning off with a plate of eggs, you’ll be more focused and able to get shit done!
- Eggs are packed full of vitamins and nutrients. These include vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential minerals like selenium and choline. (Choline is a vital nutrient that supports brain health and helps with liver function.) When you’re on a high-fat diet like carnivore, these nutrients help fill any potential nutritional gaps and promote your overall health.
Eggs are also incredibly versatile. They’re easy to serve with a side of bacon or sausage (or even steak, ground beef, pork chops, etc). If I’m every feeling really hungry, I’ll fry or scramble up a couple eggs to increase fat and protein in my meals – which would otherwise just consist of fatty meat and butter.
Ingredients You’ll Need
To make the perfect carnivore scrambled eggs, you’ll only need a few basic staples:
- Eggs (Vital Farms pasture-raised are my favorite)
- Bacon (Or pre-rendered bacon fat)
- Butter (I also love Vital Farms grass-fed butter, but any kind will work)
- Salt (Redmond’s Real Salt is where it’s at, but this is optional)

You can really take your scrambled eggs to the next level by adding in cheese, chopped bacon, cooked sausage, cooked steak, etc. But in this post, we’re just focusing on making the perfect basic scrambled eggs (with high fat content).
Also, I’ve started eating BEEF bacon – which I think I like even better than pork bacon. You can use it in the same way to make scrambled eggs, and the flavor is fantastic. Highly recommend trying it!
Step-by-Step Guide to Scrambling the Perfect Eggs
Step 1: Cook the Bacon to Render the Fat
Start by cooking your bacon in a large skillet over medium heat to render out the fat. Use as much or as little as you like. I typically cook around four slices at a time (or as many as I can fit in my skillet). Bacon fat is the magic ingredient for adding both fat and flavor to your scrambled eggs.
You’ll want to cook the bacon until it’s crispy, then remove it from the pan, but keep the rendered fat in the skillet. If you don’t have bacon on hand (or don’t feel like cooking any), you can use pre-rendered bacon fat that you’ve saved from previous meals.

Step 2: Prepare Your Ingredients
While the bacon is cooking, crack your eggs into a bowl and whisk them together until well-mixed. If I’m just cooking for myself, I’ll cook about three eggs. For two of us, I’ll use six. Make as many as you like (that can fit into your skillet) depending on your hunger level and serving size.
I also use this time to measure out the butter, so it’s ready to go. I use about 1 tablespoon of butter for every 2-3 eggs I’m cooking. For just myself, I use a single tablespoon. If I’m cooking for two, I use two tablespoons. You get the idea! Butter adds extra fat and flavor along with the bacon fat, and makes your eggs creamier.

Step 3: Heat Your Pan and Add Butter
Once the bacon fat has been rendered, lower the heat to medium-low. Add your butter to the pan. Let the butter melt completely before moving on to the next step.
Be sure not to let the pan get too hot, as high heat can overcook the eggs and make them dry. This usually isn’t a concern when you’re using this much fat, but you also don’t want the fat splattering everywhere!

Step 4: Scramble the Eggs
Now it’s time to add the eggs to the pan. Stir continuously, gently pushing the eggs around the pan with a large spoon or spatula. You’ll want to cook them slowly, making sure they stay soft and creamy. If you prefer fluffier eggs, you can add a splash of heavy cream.
Pay attention to the cooking time. Scrambled eggs should only take 2-4 minutes to cook, depending on the heat. Stir often to prevent them from sticking or burning.

Step 5: Finishing Touches
Once the eggs are nearly done (still slightly runny), remove the pan from the heat to allow them to finish cooking in the residual heat. This will help them stay creamy. You can add salt, pepper, or any other seasoning you prefer. For extra flavor, top them with the crispy bacon you made earlier (or serve it on the side).

Tips & Variations
Optional Tip for a Creamier or Fluffier Texture
If you want even creamier eggs, whisk in a little bit of heavy cream or full-fat sour cream before cooking. For fluffier eggs, beat the eggs more vigorously to incorporate air, or cook them at a lower temperature for a longer time.
Pro Tip: Don’t Overcook!
The best scrambled eggs are soft, creamy, and slightly runny. Once your eggs are cooked to your liking, remove them from the pan immediately to avoid overcooking. Eggs continue to cook even after being removed from the heat, so it’s better to err on the side of slightly undercooked than overcooked.

I know, it’s a super-simple recipe (if you can even call it that). But just in case you want a printable version, I’ve included it below. Just click the “Print Recipe” button. 🙂

Enjoy Your Perfect Scrambled Eggs!
That’s all there is to it! Scrambled eggs are a fast, simple, satisfying dish you can whip up any time. They aren’t just for breakfast either – I cook eggs for dinner at least once a week. They can be served as a side or the main dish.
They’re also a great option if you’re serving a non-carnivore partner too, since they can be made into a breakfast sandwich, breakfast burritos, served with toast, etc.
